About Workshop Coffee
Workshop Coffee is a London specialty roaster founded in 2011, known for geographic precision that goes beyond most of the market: where others say "Huila, Colombia," Workshop say "Bruselas, Huila" and name the farm or village. With cafes in Clerkenwell, Holborn, and the City, and a Pinnacle range for their highest-scoring lots, they are a reference-point roaster for the detail-oriented coffee buyer.
Founded in 2011 in Clerkenwell, Workshop were part of the first serious wave of London specialty. Over fourteen years they have maintained a consistent roasting philosophy — light, precise, filter-forward — while building out a sourcing operation with unusually granular geographic data. The Pinnacle range designates lots that exceed an internal quality threshold: competition-grade coffees, single-farm micro-lots, and experimental varietal releases.
Their cafes across Clerkenwell, Holborn, and the City attract a design and media crowd with high coffee literacy. Staff are generally able to discuss the sourcing data in detail, which makes Workshop cafes an unusually good place to ask questions about what you are drinking.
Roaster profile
Workshop's village-level geographic precision is the most meaningful differentiator in their sourcing narrative. Naming not just the region but the specific community, cooperative, or farm — and publishing that data consistently across the full range — gives buyers more genuine traceability than they will find on most specialty bags.
The Pinnacle range operates as a tiered quality designation rather than a separate product line. Not all Workshop lots qualify, and they are transparent about what the threshold is. The effect is that buying a Pinnacle lot carries a quality guarantee above what the standard range already delivers — it is a signal, not just a label.
Workshop were among the first London roasters to invest seriously in espresso development alongside filter, which means their range holds up across both brew methods. The La Colorada Pink Bourbon — a washed Colombian micro-lot from Eduardo Anacona's farm in Bruselas, Huila — is the best current example of what the Pinnacle tier represents: village-level data, named farmer, exceptional varietal character in the cup.
For Cuppd users, Workshop are a strong calibration roaster. Their product pages are honest about quality levels, the geographic data is useful for building origin knowledge, and the Pinnacle lots give you a reliable signal for what competition-adjacent specialty quality actually tastes like in a commercial release.
