Origin Coffee

Origin's FOB pricing publication is the most significant transparency marker. FOB is the price the roaster paid at the port of origin — before shipping, import duties, and domestic processing costs. Publishing it is commercially unusual because it shows exactly how much of the retail bag price is margin. Origin do it anyway, and have done for years.

Their SCA scores — published per lot — are similarly informative. An SCA score above 80 qualifies as specialty; above 85 is considered high quality; above 90 is competition-grade. Origin typically stocks lots in the 84–88 range, which maps to a high-quality specialty band without the competition-lot price premium.

The Cornwall roastery operates alongside a training facility and the UK's first SCA-accredited barista school. The school is open to the public and does not require a prior coffee background.
