About Hermanos Colombian Coffee Roasters
Hermanos Colombian Coffee Roasters is a London specialty coffee roaster founded by Colombian brothers Victor and Santiago Gamboa, alongside their friend Adnan Millwala. With a roastery in Walworth, South London, and 10 cafes across the city, they're one of London's fastest-growing specialty brands. Their supply chain runs directly from Colombian farms to the cup.
Victor and Santiago Gamboa moved from Colombia to London and built a roastery that connects where they're from with where they live. The direct trade model isn't a marketing addition — it's the founding structure. That means access to Colombian farms and cooperatives that most London roasters reach through importers. In 2025, Hermanos won both Best Independent Coffee Shop and Best Multi-Site Operator (10–50 locations) at the London Coffee Festival Awards — and then won the multi-site award again in 2026. A brand redesign by Fellow Studio London earned Bronze at the Dieline Awards and Silver at the Transform Awards in 2024.
The current range centres on Colombian origins across different processes and roast profiles. Hermanos began with a pop-up in Walthamstow in 2018 and has expanded to 10 cafes across London, with an international franchise model launching in 2026.
Roaster profile
The competition wins tell an accurate story: Best Independent Coffee Shop and Best Multi-Site Operator at the London Coffee Festival in 2025, then the multi-site award again in 2026. Winning both categories in the same year — one for the quality of a single venue, one for managing quality across 10 — is unusual. Most brands do one or the other well. Hermanos, at this point, appear to be doing both.
The direct trade structure is the underlying reason. When your co-founders grew up in the country where your coffee comes from, the sourcing relationships don't require the same intermediary architecture as a London roaster building supply chains from scratch in a country they've never lived in. Victor and Santiago Gamboa bring a different kind of knowledge to the sourcing process — cultural, agricultural, relational — that can't be acquired through importer catalogues and origin trips alone.
The 2024 brand redesign by Fellow Studio is worth noting because it reflects the maturity of the operation. The Dieline and Transform award wins are significant in the design world — the Dieline is the most respected packaging award globally, and a Bronze at that level means the work was genuinely impressive.
For Cuppd users, Hermanos is particularly valuable if you're building knowledge of Colombian origins. Their range gives you access to farms and varietals — including Pink Bourbon and other Colombian specialty varieties — that most London roasters source through intermediaries. The cafe experience is also notably welcoming.
